I am an experienced psychotherapist, warm, kind and easy to talk to. Working together, in a confidential and supportive space, we can explore the challenges and struggles you are facing so that you can live with a greater sense of well being and self-confidence.
The process of therapy is different for every client. Delving into the past is not the only way to live more satisfyingly in the present. For some clients this forms an essential part of the therapy, for others, staying with the here and now, working with how we are in the present, exploring new ways of dealing with the struggles we are facing today, is the key to change. My approach is eclectic. Most importantly, I see psychotherapy as an alliance between me and my clients.
Psychotherapy and Counselling with Sophie Boss
While our experiences growing up impact and shape who we are as adults, I believe that we all have the capacity for change. Through a process of understanding, learning, healing and growth, therapy can lead to a profound sense of wellbeing and meaning in our lives, helping us to discover who we are and how we want to be in the world.
Therapy can be short term or open-ended, for as long as you find it helpful. We start by having an initial session which is an opportunity for you to begin to explore the issues that you are struggling with as well as getting to know me and how I work and giving me a chance to get to know you. After this initial session you can decide if you would like to continue working with me and we book a series of sessions. We review our work together regularly so that you and I both ensure that you are getting what you want. I work with many professionals, artists and actors who, due to their professional commitments, are not able to attend regular weekly or fortnightly sessions. I am open to creating a plan of sessions that works for you and which supports the goals of the therapy.
I see the process of psychotherapy as a blend of art and science; drawing both on our thought processes and our emotional life. Psychotherapy invites us to be curious about the conscious and the unconscious, the work is both rational and deeply mysterious.
As well as being a leading practitioner in the field of eating disorders and body image, I specialise in areas such as relationship issues, work stress, bereavement, existential questions and sexuality.
I have been working with clients from all around the world online and on the phone for over ten years. This is a very effective solution for anyone who cannot regularly get to my practice for face to face sessions. It is also possible to mix both, with some weeks in person and some online.
Therapy for Business Professionals
Living and working under the pressure of a fast paced and success driven career in London can have a significant impact on our well being. The demanding pace of life and high expectations can become overwhelming. I work with professionals to explore and learn to manage the stresses and challenges they deal with every day, so that they can thrive, both in their work and personal lives.
I very much enjoy working with couples whatever their struggles. I have worked with many couples considering becoming parents, in some cases where one wants children and the other doesn’t, and I have supported couples who are dealing with issues such as infidelity, commitment, trust, compatibility, communication, sex and sexuality.

Other areas I work with
My personal struggles with parenting and with my relationship with food and my weight brought me to therapy over 20 years ago. The support and growth that I have experienced over more than two decades of personal work and development have been life affirming and have empowered me to be the parent and the woman that I wanted to be.
Working with parents who feel they need support and skills to bring up their children and with women who struggle with their eating and their weight are two of the areas of psychotherapy which I love and specialise in. I have created two programmes specifically for parents and for women.
