I must find a truth that is true for me
Kierkegaard, 1835
If you would like to change but don’t know how to start, I believe psychotherapy can help.
For example if you feel:
- That sometimes you are inadequate at work or at home
- Disappointed by your professional or personal relationships
- Your self-doubt, fear, and anxiety can’t be shared
- Sometimes lost in a busy and hectic environment and far away from your roots
- Things are not right but you can’t ‘put your finger on it’
I am offering you a space and a time to find the changes you need.
Psychotherapy with Magali Font
I will accompany you in your self-discovery with constancy and curiosity and sometimes challenge your assumptions in order to open new possibilities for growth. I don’t think there is a magic wand or one solution that fits all, but psychotherapy can support you in finding your own path in life. Based on my 16 year’s experience in the finance industry, I also specialise on stress and anxiety in corporate environment.
I aim to create a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for you. Together we will investigate your unique story and I will support you in making sense of your past experiences in order to live your present fully and build your future. Occasionally we might use drawings, games and various creative ways to uncover unknown parts of yourself.
I offer psychotherapy in French and English.
Professional Challenges at Work
Work can take so much space in our life, sometimes it seems like it defines one’s whole self. Even if you are a high-achiever, the money, the responsibilities, the competition, the recognition, the powers at play can be confusing and distressing.
I believe it is an illusion to think that you can leave your feelings and emotions at home and only act rationally at work. We are not robots.
Burn out, impostor syndrome, stress, power struggles are all invasive symptoms that are frequently experienced when we deny a part of ourselves at work.
Therapy is a good place to take the necessary distance to identify such patterns and reflect on your values, to define a healthier relationship with your job.
Therapy for Personal challenges
From relationships to self care, it can be difficult to find a balance between what we hoped for ourself to the reality we have to face in everyday life.
I can help you through difficult decisions such as separations, having kids or not, conflicts with partners, friends and family and support you in the aftermath.
Looking at your past to understand how you create relationship patterns is a useful tool. However in our work together we will also work on empowering you so you can take the actions in your present life to bring the changes you need .
Mediation – Professional Relationships
You know your working relationship is key to individual and collective success but
- You regularly notice resentment and annoyance coming between you and your colleague.
- You don’t know how to communicate without feeling angry, aggressive or overwhelmed.
- You don’t understand why your colleague is defensive, while you felt you communicated clearly and your requests are justified.
- You don’t understand why you feel so hurt or angry at your colleague’s comments but struggle to express this rationally.
Mediation can help you to improve working relationships between 2 or more individuals by exploring the dynamics at play and understanding the difference, for each individual, between what has been said and what has been heard.
I offer a set of 6 sessions using different tools such as reformulation, house of self states and mapping (from Cognitive Analytic Therapy) to understand your communication and emotional patterns at work in order to develop more efficient working relationships between individuals.
Mediation session for 2 people: 1 hour, £110
How we work together in therapy
We usually have a first session to assess if we would be comfortable working together.
During the following few sessions, usually 4 or 5, we would discuss your expectations and goals for the therapy.
During our work together we would regularly come back to these goals, to ensure the psychotherapy is bringing you what you need, and readjust our approach if necessary.
I offer short term and long term therapy to individuals.
Psychotherapy in French and English
Although clients may speak fluently in English I often find that many clients would prefer to speak in their mother tongue, I am a native French speaker and offer psychotherapy in French as well as English.
A little more about me
I was born and raised in France, in a small town in the Alps. I later lived in Paris and then moved to London in 2006.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I spent sixteen years in the corporate world, in various senior roles in the City and, while I enjoyed the intellectual challenges and the camaraderie with colleagues, I also saw first-hand the potential for ruthlessness within these organisations.
By moving to different locations and different jobs, I was often looking for a way to find my place in a new environment and it wasn’t always easy.
I understand the impact of external circumstances on one’s sense of self, the desire for change and the quest for meaning.
My own experience of psychotherapy transformed my way of relating to myself and the world, making my life richer and more vibrant.
